Throughout the year, we host special events that let you experience what UBC is like first-hand. Join us to participate in a mini-lecture, explore each campus with your potential new classmates, meet current students, and more.

UBC Masterclass

Find out what learning is like at university! Join us online for a series of mini-lectures from UBC professors, tailored for those in their junior year (Grade 11). You can choose from five lectures on various topics, and each will be hosted by different UBC faculties. As part of the event, you’ll also enjoy a presentation to help you learn more about what life and learning is like at UBC, and will have the chance to ask your questions to staff and faculty.

Who can attend:

International students and Canadian students studying abroad (including permanent residents and refugees studying abroad), in Grade 11 (junior year).



Future Global Leaders

If you’re a high school student aged 15 to 18, you can get a head start on your academic goals by taking part in the UBC Future Global Leaders program. During each 10-week online course, you’ll explore your academic interests with a top-tier university, try a popular university course without the stress of exams, and make friends from around the world. These pre-university courses are a great way to work out what your passions are while you’re still in high school, and prepare yourself for success at university and beyond.

Who can attend:

Students from 15 to 18 who have completed Grade 10 or equivalent. We suggest that you have a grade point average of 78% or letter grade B or higher, or a minimum IB final grade of 5. Find out more information about eligibility.

UBC Virtual Open House

Join us online for UBC’s virtual open house. During this multi-day event, you’ll enjoy a series of live video presentations as well as on-demand content you can watch at your own pace, and you can ask your questions to UBC advisors using live chat.

As part of the event, you’ll discover how to apply to UBC and what the admission requirements are, learn more about our undergraduate programs, find out about the learning opportunities available, and get a head start on your financial planning. You’ll leave the event prepared to submit a successful application to UBC.

Virtual US Thanksgiving Event

If you’re a US student who is unable to make it to campus, join us online for our virtual US Thanksgiving event. You’ll connect with current students, staff, and advisors to learn about undergraduate academic programs, admissions information, scholarship opportunities, and more. Take part in a live virtual campus tour of both UBC Okanagan and UBC Vancouver, ask your questions to a student panel with ambassadors from both campuses, and enjoy live presentations to help you learn more about UBC.

Indigenous Experience UBC

Indigenous students in a lower mainland high school in Grades 9-12 are invited to join us to learn about the spaces and resources available on campus for Indigenous students. As part of the day-long experience, you’ll take part in mini-lectures hosted by UBC faculties, enjoy presentations from our friendly staff to help you learn more about what makes UBC such an exciting place to live and study, and meet some of our current Indigenous students who can answer all your questions about life on campus. You’ll also join an Indigenous-specific campus tour, which will include Indigenous-specific stops such as the First Nations Longhouse.

Who can attend:

Students who identify as Indigenous (a member of First Nations, Inuit, or Métis peoples in Canada), from the lower mainland, in Grades 9 – 11

UBC Future Student Conference

The UBC Future Student Conference is a five-day online event that connect professors, advisors, and current students with students who have been offered a place at UBC. You’ll have the chance to join live online sessions run by UBC advisors and watch on-demand videos to learn more about essential topics including student life and financial planning. As part of the event, you can:

  • Ask your questions directly to an advisor, professor, or UBC student
  • Learn about your new program and faculty
  • Explore your campus virtually
  • Get tips and advice from UBC advisors
  • Hear from current UBC students
  • Start building your community

UBC Welcomes You

Congratulations on your offer of admission! UBC Welcomes You is a one-day event at UBC’s Vancouver campus to celebrate your success. Join our current students, meet your new classmates, get to know the campus, and take part in presentations from your new faculty as part of this event. Your parents and guardians are welcome to come too, and there will be specific sessions for them to learn more about UBC.

Canadian students (including permanent residents and refugees studying abroad) with an offer of admission to UBC



Indigenous Destination UBC

Join us a day early for UBC Welcomes You to find out what makes UBC such a vibrant place to live, play, and study – and discover whether it’s the right home-away-from home for you. During this three-day event, you’ll:

  • Move into a student residence and experience living on campus
  • Meet other incoming Indigenous students and begin making your first friends
  • Meet Indigenous staff, members of your faculty and your new professors
  • Learn about what resources are available for Indigenous students
  • Enjoy an Indigenous campus tour
